Roof Claims Need Ground Truth. We Document It.
Every roof claim turns on the same questions: what happened, how big is the roof, what’s damaged, and what does the fix cost. Mars Roofers is a licensed roofing contractor (CSLB #1138550) that answers those questions from on top of the roof — dated photo documentation, real measurements, and line-item written estimates, organized as one package for the claim file.

What A Roof Claim File Needs
A roof claim is hard to adjust from a desk. The damage is twenty feet up, the policyholder’s description is a layperson’s, and the first contractor estimate in the file is often a number with no documentation behind it. What closes the gap is ground truth: someone licensed, on the roof, documenting what is actually there — the damage and the pre-existing wear, separated and photographed — and pricing the repair the way the work is really performed. That’s the service on this page. We’re not adjusters and we don’t negotiate claims; we’re the contractor whose documentation and numbers your file can rely on either way the claim goes.
What We Put In The File
Storm and leak damage documentation
Dated photo sets of the damage as found: the storm-created openings, the failed flashing, the interior leak path traced back to its source on the roof. We document the damage and the surrounding condition separately, so the file shows what the event did and what was already worn before it.
Roof measurements and diagrams
Claim pricing starts with the roof’s actual dimensions. We measure and document roof area, pitch, and facet layout — the same measurement discipline behind the HOVER-style measurement reports on our sample estimates page — so the scope in the file is built on the roof that’s really there, not an aerial estimate nobody verified.
Repair-versus-replace analysis, in writing
Some roofs need a repair; some are past it. We give you the analysis either way: what’s damaged, what a proper repair involves, whether a repair restores the roof or just delays a replacement, and a line-item written estimate for the recommended scope — quantities, materials, and price, reviewable line by line.
Temporary repairs and dry-in
When a roof is open to the weather, the next rain costs more than the tarp. We perform emergency temporary repairs and dry-in work to stop further loss while the claim is evaluated, documented with before-and-after photos for the file.
Supplement documentation
Field conditions don’t always match the original estimate: decking that’s rotted under the covering, underlayment that’s failed beyond the scoped area, flashing conditions nobody could see until tear-off. When the opened roof tells a different story, we document it — photos, measurements, and the revised scope — so the supplement request is evidence, not argument.
A licensed contractor of record for the work
When the claim settles, the repair still has to be built. We’re a licensed roofing contractor who performs the documented scope ourselves — replacement, repair, tear-off — under CSLB #1138550, so the file’s numbers and the finished work come from the same company.
How Working With Us Goes
- Send the assignment — Call 310.880.9718 or email brett@marsx.construction with the claim address and what the file needs: damage documentation, measurements, a repair estimate, dry-in, or a supplement package.
- We get on the roof — A scheduled on-roof visit: dated photographs of the damage and the overall condition, measurements and facet documentation, and a close look at the leak path or storm damage in question.
- You get one organized package — Photos, measurements, condition notes, and a line-item written estimate, assembled for the claim file — not a pile of phone pictures and a lump-sum number.
- We build what the file approves — The documented scope, performed by our own crews, with completion photos. If tear-off reveals conditions the estimate didn’t cover, the supplement documentation comes to you before the extra work, not after.
What We Don’t Do
We don’t act as public adjusters, we don’t interpret policy language, and we don’t coach policyholders on coverage. Coverage decisions are yours. Our lane is the roof itself: what condition it’s in, what the event did to it, and what the correct repair costs — documented well enough that your decision is defensible. If the claim needs a condition report or certification outside the claim context, our home and commercial roof inspections page covers that side.
More For Pros
For underwriting and portfolio work rather than claims, see For Insurance Companies. Professionals on the transaction side: For Home & Commercial Inspectors, For Lenders, For Contractors, and For Realtors. Need a roof certification on a property? That’s our sister company, Get Your Roof Certified. Homeowners and building owners start with roof inspections.
FAQ
Do you price in Xactimate?
Our estimates are written line-item contractor estimates — scope, quantities, materials, and price in our own format, the same format you can read on our sample estimates page. They’re built from the real cost of performing the work, and they’re detailed enough to reconcile against your estimating platform line by line.
Will you meet our adjuster or the policyholder on site?
Yes. Roof documentation goes better with the right people present. Coordinate through 310.880.9718 with the claim address, and we’ll schedule the on-roof visit around the file — including joint inspections with your field adjuster or the policyholder’s representative.
Can you separate storm damage from wear and deterioration?
That’s most of the job. We document the damaged areas and the roof’s overall condition — age indicators, covering condition, prior repairs — side by side, so the file itself shows what’s event damage and what’s maintenance. The coverage call stays yours; the condition record is ours.
Do you handle commercial roof claims as well as homes?
Yes — flat and low-slope commercial systems, TPO and other single-ply membranes, commercial tile and metal, plus residential shingle and tile. The documentation package is the same: photos, measurements, condition, and a priced scope.
What areas do you cover?
Orange County is home base, and we document and repair roofs across Los Angeles, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. Call with the claim address and we’ll confirm coverage for that property on the spot.
