The Questions

How do I know if I need repair or replacement?

Age and pattern. One leak at one failed detail on a roof with years of life left = repair. Recurring leaks, end-of-life material, or failed underlayment across the roof = replacement conversation. A $300 inspection settles it with photos instead of opinions.

My tile roof looks fine — why is it leaking?

Because on a tile roof, the tile is not the waterproofing. The underlayment beneath it is, and it typically wears out decades before the tile. The standard fix is a lift-and-relay: your tile comes off and goes back on over new underlayment. See tile roofs.

How much does an inspection cost?

Standard inspections are $300, NRCIA certification inspections are $450, and large or complex roofs are $750. Details on the roof inspections page.

I need a roof certification for escrow. Is that you?

The certification itself is handled by our sister company, Get Your Roof Certified, which does NRCIA certifications for transactions every day. If the certification report calls for repairs first, Mars Roofers does that work — the two companies hand off inside one family.

How much does a new roof cost?

It depends on size, pitch, material, tear-off scope, and deck condition — anyone quoting it blind is guessing. Our roof cost guide breaks down exactly what drives the number, and an inspection plus written proposal gives you your real one.

How long does a replacement take?

Most homes move from tear-off to finished roof in days, not weeks — but tile, size, deck repairs, and weather all play a part. Your proposal states the expected schedule for your specific roof before you sign anything.

Do you roof over the existing roof to save money?

As a rule, no. Layovers hide deck damage, add permanent weight, and bury the details where leaks start. Tear-off is how you find the truth while it’s cheap. See tear-off & re-roof.

What areas do you serve?

Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, and Ventura counties, from our office in Orange, CA.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes — Mars Construction Industries Corp, CSLB Lic #1138550 (A General Engineering, B General Building, C-36 Plumbing, C-20 HVAC), licensed, bonded, and insured, and NRCIA certified for roof inspections.

Do you do gutters and flat roofs too?

Yes — gutters are part of the roof system to us, and we install and repair flat and TPO roofs on homes and commercial buildings.
